How to do it

You need: The equipment your child's physio has listed for each station.

Set out the stations your child's physio has chosen, in the order they have given, in a calm, clear space. Only use the activities on your physio's plan - this circuit is put together for your child's particular needs.

  1. Talk your child through the stations before you start, so they know what is coming.
  2. Guide your child through each station in the order your physio has set.
  3. Give your child a moment to settle between stations if they need it.
  4. Follow your physio's guidance on how many times to repeat the circuit.
  5. Finish with the calming activity your physio has suggested, such as a firm cushion squash or slow rocking.

Form cues

  • Your child moves through the stations in the planned order without long gaps.
  • Your child stays calm and focused - a little effort is fine, distress is not.
  • You are following the physio's plan rather than adding extra activities.

Common mistakes

  • Adding or swapping stations without checking with your physio first.
  • Rushing your child from one station to the next with no time to reset.
  • Carrying on when your child is overwhelmed or upset - stop and try a shorter version next time.

Safety: Stop and message your child's physio if your child has increasing pain, a limp that does not settle, or is much more tired or unsettled than usual.
